Premier League Player & Manager Award Announced For September

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has won the player of the month prize for the first time after an impressive run of form.

South Korean Son has stepped up in the absence of injured striker Harry Kane, scoring three league goals in September to help lift his team to second in the table behind Manchester City.

Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp has also been named Premier League manager of the month after leading the club to three consecutive wins in September, the first time the German has won the award.

The Reds were double winners in September with Jurgen Klopp collecting the Premier League Manager of the Month award and Jordan Henderson taking best goal.

The Reds have risen to fourth in the table following three successive victories last month - beating reigning champions Leicester 4-1, earning a 2-1 away win against Chelsea and humbling Hull City 5-1.

Klopp's 100 per cent record saw off competition from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino and Alan Pardew of Crystal Palace to win Manager of the Month.

Liverpool host sixth-placed Manchester Unitedon Monday and are three points ahead of Jose Mourinho's men in fourth place in the standings.
