Pique & tearful Alba limp off as Barcelona suffer double injury blow

Gerard Pique followed a tearful Jordi Alba off the pitch as Barcelona suffered a double injury blow against Manchester City on Wednesday.

 Alba complained of muscular problems while on international duty recently and appeared to aggravate a pre-existing issue in the Champions League tie at Camp Nou.

He was replaced by Lucas Digne before Pique limped off having failed to shake off the effects of a clash with David Silva, with Jeremy Mathieu coming on in central defence.

Alba's injury is a further blow for Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, who is already facing a shortage of bodies in the full-back positions.

Sergio Roberto missed the City clash with an injury and with Aleix Vidal out of favour, Javier Mascherano was forced to start at right-back.
