Nigerian forward Isaac Success made his first start for Watford on Sunday and was named as the game’s best player as they defeated Middlesbrough 1-0.
Watford climbed into the top half of the Premier League table with a 1-0 win against Middlesbrough thanks to Jose Holebas' second-half strike.
Watford climbed up to ninth in the table with the win. The strike was Watford’s second attempt on goal.
The win also saw Walter Mazzarri’s men keep their first clean sheet of the campaign.
The game was Success’ sixth appearance of the campaign and he has scored once. Recall he missed the Super Eagles game against Zambia with a "reported injury"
His compatriot Odion Ighalo who wasn't called up for the game watched from the bench for the whole game after being dropped for a series of poor showings.
Playing from the left flank former Nigeria U-17 and U-20 star Success gave Boro’s Antonio Barragan a torrid time and was unlucky not to have earned a penalty from one of his mazy runs into the box.
Watford have now scored in 16 of their last 17 meetings with Boro.
The defeat meant Aitor Karanka’s men fell to a sixth straight match without a win.
