Team Nigeria Finally Arrive Manaus In Brazil, 5 Hours Away From Kick Off

Nigeria have finally landed in Manaus, where they will take on Japan less than six hours later in their opening Olympics group game against Japan.

The Samson Siasia-led team were stranded at their training base in Atlanta, Georgia, for several days before they boarded a chartered flight directly to the match venue of their first two group games against Japan and Sweden.

Their final group game will be in Sao Paolo against Colombia.
It is expected that an inquest will be instituted after the Rio Olympics over the international shame brought on to Nigeria by the team’s failure to arrive Brazil in good time.

To begin with, the size of the official team to Brazil was exceeded by as many as 10 people.

Twenty five of those on the flight from Atlanta are accredited for the Olympics, but the other 10 were not.
