Sevilla have joined the race to sign Samir Nasri from Manchester City as Besiktas struggle to convince the Frenchman to move to Turkey.
Besiktas sent a five-man delegation to England on Monday and had hoped to return home with Nasri aboard their private plane.
But Nasri is thought to prefer the idea of a move to Sevilla and Jorge Sampaoli's side are now favourites to get a deal done before Wednesday's deadline.
The Andalusians are hoping to offload Yevhen Konoplyanka in order to free up a place in their squad and recoup the necessary funds to bring in a replacement.
Sources in Spain suggest Konoplyanka, who earns roughly £86,000 a week, will move on loan to Schalke.
That will open up the possibility of a season-long loan for Nasri, who has three years left on his City deal, which is worth £120,000 per week.
Sevilla hope to persuade City to contribute part of the 29-year-old's wages over the duration of the deal.
"There could still be movement," Nasri said after he contributed to City's 3-1 victory over West Ham on Sunday. "It depends on a lot of things in fact.
"There's been a lot of speculation. Things that are true. Things that are false, too, because they've never shown me the door or anything like that.
"But I said: 'Everything depends on what's up there [in your head] and your desire'. So we'll see. We're going to sit down, discuss it and see what's to be done."
Meanwhile, City goalkeeper Joe Hart has landed in Italy to finalise his loan move to Torino.
The England No.1 has lost his place at the Etihad Stadium and would have been third choice, behind new signing Claudio Bravo and Willy Caballero, if he had stayed with the Blues.
