Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli is set to join Ligue 1 side Nice after rejecting a return to Italy with Palermo.
Balotelli had flown to Nice in order to discuss a potential deal while local outlet Nice-Matin report that a potential deal could be sealed in the coming hours.
It is still currently unclear whether the move for Balotelli, whose contract expires at the end of the season, will be a transfer or a loan, with the striker's wages reportedly causing a problem.
Nice lost Hatem Ben Arfa on a free to PSG over the summer whilst Valere Germain returned to Monaco following his loan move, meaning the club lost a combined 31 goals.
Balotelli was on loan at Milan last season but he scored just once in 20 Premier League appearances and the Italian side did not take up the option to buy him permanently.
He has not been involved with Liverpool's first team so far this season with manager Jurgen Klopp making it clear that the forward is not part of his plans.
Regardless of whether he moves permanently or on loan to Nice it now seems certain that his time with Liverpool will come to an end, with no new contract on the horizon.
