Liverpool pocket £4m fee as Sinclair joins Watford

Liverpool will bank a development fee of £4 million from youngster Jerome Sinclair’s switch to Watford on a four-year deal.

The 19-year-old, whose contract at Anfield runs up at the end of this month, inked terms with the Hornets in May and will officially join Walter Mazzarri’s side on July 1.

Liverpool were due a compensation fee for developing Sinclair, whom they signed from West Brom’s academy as a 14-year-old.

Watford had originally offered £1.5m for the player in January, which was rejected by the Reds.

It was thought that a tribunal would be needed to reach an agreement, but the clubs have settled on £4m.

Sinclair became the youngest debutant in Liverpool’s history when he was subbed on against West Brom at 16 years and six days in September 2012.

The forward made five senior appearances for the Reds.
