Real Madrid & Barcelona battle for Leroy Sane

La Liga rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid are ready to battle it out to try and lure Schalke's teenage sensation Leroy Sane to Spain, according to German magazineKicker.

The 19-year-old is already on the radar of Manchester City, with expected new manager Pep Guardiola a big fan of a player who made his debut for the German national team last year.

But City will have to fight off competition from Barca and Madrid in order to land Sane, with the two superpowers of European football joining the race for his signature.

Schalke are keen to retain the youngster, though will begrudgingly accept any offers of €50 million (£37m) which would shatter their record transfer fee received.

The German club expect interest in Sane to ramp up in the summer, though are braced for the possibility of a January raid and would be willing to sell at €50m this month.
