Sunderland 2-0 Stoke City: Shawcross sees red in late show

Patrick van Aanholt and Duncan Watmore scored in a two-minute blitz to help Sunderland to a 2-0 victory over Stoke.

The hosts were on top for large portions of the game, but were only able to take advantage of their superiority when Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross received his marching orders in the second half.

Van Aanholt galloped forward to blast beyond Jack Butland, before Duncan Watmore capitalised on an error not two minutes later to seal a deserved win.
