Aston Villa suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Watford on Saturday after Alan Hutton scored an embarrassing own-goal.
The hosts were seeking their first win under new coach Remi Garde but Odion Ighalo netted his eighth goal of the season in the first half to send the visitors on their way.
Micah Richards pulled one back before the break but his defensive colleague Hutton put the ball past his own goalkeeper under pressure from Ighalo.
Troy Deeney then netted a mighty header in the 85th minute to put the tie beyond Villa, and though Jordan Ayew scored four minutes later to make the score 3-2, Watford held on to heap more pressure on their beleagured hosts.
