Gonzalo Higuain is unlikely to leave Napoli despite interest from “lots of clubs”, according to his father and agent.
The striker has been linked with an end-of-season departure from the
Stadio San Paolo, with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid rumoured to be
considering a summer bid for the Argentina international.
However, Jorge Higuain has suggested this son has no desire to quit
the Serie A club, whom he joined from Real Madrid for €40 million two
years ago.
“There are a lot of teams interested in Gonzalo,” he told El Crack Deportivo. “However, he has a three-year contract to run with Napoli.
“I do not think he will go anywhere.”
Higuain has scored 16 goals in 35 Serie A appearances this season -
joint-fourth with two matchdays to go - while netting 27 times in all
competitions for the Partenopei.
But his goals look like they might not have been able to fire Napoli
to a spot in next season's Champions League, as they sit three points
adrift of third-placed Lazio.
