Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher
is eager to end the club's long wait for FA Cup glory after the Red
Devils booked their place in the Fourth Round with a 2-0 victory over Yeovil.
Goals
from Ander Hererra and Angel di Maria saw United through against the
League One side, putting the club - and the 30-year-old - one step
closer to etching their name onto the trophy for the first time since
2004.
"We knew it wasn't going to be easy, that there was going
to be tackles flying in - it was going to be lively," the Scotland
international, who is the only member of the current United squad to
have won the FA Cup, told BT Sport.
Fletcher praised his
side's resolve at Huish Park after digging in and battling to earn
their place in the next round after a goalless first half.
"You have to battle before you can win the match," he said.
"We
did that today. We battled for maybe 60-70 minutes and then Ander
Herrera scored a fantastic goal and sometimes that's what it takes.
"We
are in the draw for the next round. It has been too long since
Manchester United have won this competition and we really want to win it
this year."
