Pelle, 29, won the award by a single vote from Leicester City striker
Leonardo Ulloa after scoring three goals - including a spectacular
overhead-kick winner against QPR - to help the Saints record four
consecutive victories in September and earn himself an Italy call-up.
Angel Di Maria also made the shortlist after notching two goals and two
assists in a resurgent month for Manchester United, along with Diafra
Sakho, Mile Jedinak and Morgan Schneiderlin.
Koeman easily
triumphed in the vote for the manager award after masterminding
Southampton's perfect run, though Jose Mourinho was also in contention
after leading Chelsea to two wins and a draw to keep them clear at the
top of the Premier League.
Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson
and Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock completed the shortlist after
overseeing two wins from three matches in September.
