Footballers around the world needs more rest, says Kroos

Thegoalmac can reveal that Real Madrid star Toni Kroos says the workload and pressure on international players is too high in the modern game, and calls for more rest time for them.

I am with Mr Kroos on this one, players don't rest at all,and something seriously needs to be done about Asap, what do you think?Continue to see what he said.

"I am of the opinion that the burden of playing games is much too high, especially for international players that also play domestically with their clubs," Kroos told Welt am Sonntag.

"During the season, the teams play every third day, that's a huge workload with some long journeys. I think in football we need more time to rest and recover.

"It's no coincidence that in the past two months so many players have been injured, and we're not just talking about strains, but serious problems like muscle tears."

The former Bayern Munich man also talked about his decision to move from the Bavarian giants to the European champions this summer.

"I enjoy being at Real," he added. "The club atmosphere is - even if some do not want to believe it - very tight-knit.

"Even after such a short time I feel sure that it was right to take the step of moving to Madrid."

Kroos and his Germany team-mates will be hoping to bounce back from being beaten by Poland for the first time in competitive history when they face fellow European Championship qualification opponents Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.
