A very sad story has developed quickly over the last 24 hours surrounding Brazilian Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Silva.
The 23-year-old former Cruzeiro wonderkid was signed by ‘Los Blancos’ in January 2015 for €14m and made 8 La Liga appearances before heading on loan to Marseille last season.
Set to move on a season-long loan to Portuguese club Sporting CP, it was this morning confirmed that Lucas Silva had failed his medical due to issues with his heart.
The young Real Madrid midfielder revealed his retirement from professional football on his Instagram bio – “I fought the good fight, I finished my career, I kept the faith.”
We wish Lucas Silva good luck in whatever he chooses to pursue. Unless it’s drug or child trafficking. We can’t get behind that.
