Thegoalmac understands that Chelsea are not out to emulate Arsenal's legendary 'Invincibles' this season, boss Jose Mourinho insists.
For me, it will be very difficult for Chelsea to go all season unbeaten like that great Arsenal side, but if their is one team and a manager that is capable of repeating that feat, I think this Chelsea side and Jose are capable. Read what Jose said after the cut and share your thoughts with us on what you think.
"One thing is that I don't think it's possible [to remain undefeated],"
he told reporters. "The other thing is we are not playing for that.
"If
you play for that, if that is one objective, maybe you draw so many
matches and you don't take risks to try and win matches. You are happy
just to be undefeated.
"If you get 10 draws, you get 10 points.
If you win five and lose five, you make 15 points. I'd prefer 15 points
and lose some matches than 10 points and be undefeated.
"We don't
focus on that - we don't. If we have a 0-0 with 20 minutes to go
[against Spurs], we are not going to play for the 0-0 to be undefeated
after 21 matches. No way.
"We are going to play matches to win. Sometimes, we will lose."
Chelsea
are heavy favourites to claim their first Premier League title since
2010 but Mourinho insists his team are taking nothing for granted
despite their blistering start to the campaign.
"We don't
promise anything," he added. "We don't put ourselves in that position,
of being arrogant to say we are going to win. We don't do that.
"All we say is we're playing very well, we believe in ourselves, we are happy with what we're doing. No more than that."
