Mahrez bounces back from Liverpool howler to Manchester City's October best nominee

After starting the month in the worst possible way at Anfield, the winger turned the corner to become one of City's best performers for the first time
Riyad Mahrez has been shortlisted for his maiden Manchester City Best Player of the Month award for October.
In what started on a not-too-impressive note, City’s record signing began the month - after his cameo in their win over Hoffenheim in Germany - with a game to forget, blasting over a late penalty meant to give his side an away victory over fierce title rivals Liverpool on October 7.

The 27-year-old then picked himself up, delivering top-notch displays in subsequent games. He netted a worldie in the Citizen's big win over Burnley before laying on an assist as they defeated Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
Giving him a run for the award are mercurial midfielder David Silva and defender Aymeric Laporte.
Mahrez is gradually gelling into the English top-flight champions side after moving from Leicester City in the summer.
Also, he seems to be locking down the right wing spot as he started all but one of their games in October.
The Algeria international who has bagged five goals and an assist in his last eight games will hope to continue in such vein of form as City kick off November with a League Cup fixture against Fulham on Thursday evening.
