Barcelona are having problems extending Jordi Alba's contract, Sport reports.
The left-back's contract is up in 2020 but they have not yet opened contract talks with the player, who has said previously he wants to retire at the club.
The 29-year-old, however, was promised improved terms two years ago and Barca have failed to come through on those as yet.
With no obvious replacement in their squad for an important player, it is a risky strategy from the Catalans.
