FIFA Awards: Who Exactly Did Gernot Rohr And Mikel Obi Vote For?

The FIFA awards took place yesterday in Zurich, Switzerland with Cristiano Ronaldo starting off the year by winning the best player of the year award ahead of arch-rival Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.

The Best FIFA awards were voted for by the national team captain, manager, and a journalist, and fans registered on FIFA.com from each of 211 nations. Ronaldo earned 34.54 percent of total votes while Messi finished second with 26.42 percent and Griezmann was third at 7.53 percent.

But how did Nigeria vote in the awards?

Represented by head coach Gernot Rohr and team captain Mikel Obi, it was definitely a different voting pattern by the two important men of the Super Eagles.

Mikel Obi would opt for Cristiano Ronaldo in first position, followed by Antoine Griezmann in second, and would choose Bayern Munich and Germany's goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in third.

It would be a different scenario for Gernot Rohr. The German coach would pick Antoine Griezmann in first position, Lionel Messi in second, and like his team captain Neuer Manuel in third place.

One thing clearly stood out, both player and coach would not put Ronaldo and Messi in the same nominations. With Ronaldo and Messi very certain to be in the top three, could it be possible player and coach voted based on fandom?
