Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has been ruled out of Chile's upcoming World Cup qualifier against Colombia with a calf injury.
The former Barcelona man felt some discomfort towards the end of his country's training session
on Tuesday, and the Chilean FA have confirmed the issue as well as staying hopeful he will be fit to face Uruguay on Tuesday.
"The Medical Corps of the Chilean national team informs the player Alexis Sanchez has a low-grade muscle injury," it said.
"The player will stay in Santiago, under treatment and evaluation ahead of the meeting between Chile and Uruguay."
News of Alexis's fitness problems will come as a blow to Arsenal, with the Gunners having relied heavily on the 27-year-old this term.
He has scored eight goals and assisted seven more in all competitions for Arsene Wenger's side, who are unbeaten since defeat to Liverpool on the opening day of the season.
Injury to their star striker means he is likely to be a doubt for Arsene Wenger's side's upcoming trip to Manchester United in their next Premier League clash.
