Ana Ivanovic, as a former world number one and French Open champion, has plenty of fans across the globe, but few will be as powerful as man recently elected as the 45th president of the United States.
That’s right, Donald Trump has publicly expressed his appreciation of the Serbian tennis star – who married Manchester United’s World Cup-winning midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger over the summer - in the not too distant past.
During a visit to Ivanovic’s home country in 2013, the 70-year-old billionaire revealed that he considers her to be ‘the most beautiful woman in the world’.
His comments were made during a meeting with Ivica Dacic, who was Serbia’s vice-president at the time and met trump to discuss potential business investments.
Dacic, who is now the Minister of Foreign Affairs, said: "For 15 minutes all he talked about was Ana Ivanovic and how she was the most beautiful tennis player and woman in the world."
Local media went on to ask Dacic why Trump had such a positive attitude about Serbia, and she replied: "Ana is the one to take credit, he is fascinated with her beauty."
The 29-year-old, who won her only Grand Slam title to date at Roland Garros in 2008, met Trump in 2014 – posting a photo with him on her Twitter account.
She hooked up with Schweinsteiger later that year, with the pair having formed a sporting super couple.
The Red Devils star can often be seen at tennis events around the world, but it remains to be seen how much longer they will be based in Cheshire as the former Bayern Munich man remains on the fringes of the first-team picture at Old Trafford.
