Gareth Bale has signed a contract extension at Real Madrid, with the fresh terms set to take him through to 2022.
The Wales international, who earned a Ballon d'Or nomination this week, moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in a record-breaking switch from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013.
He has gone on to make over 130 appearances for Los Blancos, while netting 62 goals – including 50 in La Liga.
Bale’s exploits have also seen him help Real to a number of major honours, including two Champions League crowns and the 2013/14 Copa del Rey.
The 27-year-old will hope there are many more to come, having committed his long-term future to the Spanish giants.
A short statement released on Real’s official website read: “Real Madrid CF and Gareth Bale have agreed to the extension of the player’s contract, which is linked to the club until 30 June 2022.”
Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have already agreed new deals with Real this season, while Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly close to following their lead.
