Gibbs highlights Arsenal's main area of improvement

Kieran Gibbs feels increased options at Arsenal have been ‘the difference’ for the club as they look to mount another Premier League title bid.

The Gunners are always there or thereabouts in the English top-flight, with a perfect record boasted under Arsene Wenger when it comes to securing Champions League qualification.

They have, however, gone 12 years since they last toasted domestic dominance – with that sequence stretching back to the 2003-04 campaign of ‘The Invincibles’.

Arsene Wenger has overseen various stages of rebuilding since then, with that process having continued over the summer.

Sensible investment is now being rewarded, with Arsenal sitting joint-top of the table and boasting the kind of squad depth required to mount a sustained challenge for major honours.

England international Gibbs told the club’s official website: “That's obviously the difference and I feel that’s been the difference for a few years with the club.

“It’s about a squad game and we need to keep everyone fit, that’s the most important thing because there’s depth and quality in the squad.

“We need to utilise that throughout the season and make sure everyone’s ready because you can be called upon at any time.”

Arsenal saw off Sunderland 4-1 at the Stadium of Light on Saturday to keep pace with the Premier League frontrunners – with victory on Wearside seeing Wenger’s stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to 14 matches.
