'Blame Super Eagles' Star For AFCON Failure!'- Salisu Yusuf

Super Eagles’ coach Salisu Yusuf has put the blame on Nigeria’s failure to qualify for 2017 AFCON at the doors of the Super Eagles’ stars.

In March, Nigeria missed out on a second straight AFCON after they lost 1-0 at eventual group winners Egypt. “For me the players did not give what they were supposed to give” said Yusuf speaking on the reason as to the failure of Nigeria’s qualifying for the tournament in Gabon.
Comparing the attitude of the players in recent friendly matches and the qualifiers, Yusuf suggested a different performance was shown by the players and the team would do enough to be in Russia 2018.
The players fought like home-based players in the friendly against Mali and I believe that will better self motivation, they will be at the World Cup, they are already producing high performances at their various European clubs and we expect them to give more to be at the World Cup.
Nigeria begins their journey to Russia in Ndola against Zambia and they are worries about the conditions of the playing surface at the stadium but Coach Yusuf pressed for resiliency from the foreign stars.
We must adapt to the African environment. With players with strong character, a bad pitch won’t make any difference after about fifteen minutes, when you would have familiarized yourself with it,” he said.
The Super Eagles would play against Chipolopolo of Zambia on Monday, 3rd of October, 2016
