Northampton Town 1-3 Manchester United: Carrick & Rashford shines as Red Devils go through to last 16

Manchester United got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Northampton Town in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

The Red Devils entered the match on the back of a three-game losing streak but Michael Carrick got them off to the perfect start with an excellent strike in the first half.

Alex Revell drew Northampton level from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time, before Ander Herrera put United back in front.

And Marcus Rashford gave Mourinho's men a two-goal cushion soon after as he made the most of some poor goalkeeping from Adam Smith.
