Nigeria 1-0 Tanzania: Kelechi Iheanacho's Super Strike Secures The Victory

The Super Eagles pipped hard-fighting Tanzania 1-0 in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.

The only goal of the game was scored by Kelechi Iheanacho with 12 minutes remaining in the encounter, the first one under the guidance of new German head coach Gernot Rorh.

With the win, the Eagles finished second in their group with five points behind Egypt

It needed a 78th minute super strike by the Manchester City starlet ace  for Nigeria to beat goalkeeper Aishi Manula and Tanzania.

The Super Eagles created a rash of chances in this dead rubber game, but wasteful finishing and the brilliance of former Tanzania U20 star Manula ensured they had to wait till late to snatch their first win at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium.

It was a winning start for new coach Gernot Rohr, but he certainly knows his team will have to sharpen their shooting boots in time for next month’s World Cup qualifier in Zambia.
