Miranda named new Brazil captain

Inter defender Miranda has been named as the new captain of Brazil after Neymar chose to step down.
Barcelona forward Neymar elected to relinquish the armband after leading the Selecao to gold at the Rio Olympics.

And on Wednesday new coach Tite confirmed Inter Milan’s Miranda will lead the team out for World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Colombia this week.
“Brazil have some great leaders in the squad and I am very happy to represent them with the armband,” Miranda told a press conference in Quito.
The Selecao met Ecuador on Thursday hoping to get their qualification campaign back on track with what would be their first win at the altitude of the Ecuadorian capital in 33 years.
“It is the greatest time for us to reply. The fans want us to give them answers,” Miranda continued.
“We will go in search of victory and playing good football. Tite has us fully prepared we are ready to put that work into practice.
“We must be well organised and that is what we have been working over the past few days, being organised at the back and launching surprise counterattacks.
“it is a very important game and we’ve come here to try to bring home the three points."
Expected Brazil line-up vs Ecuador: Alisson; Daniel Alves, Marquinhos, Miranda,  Marcelo; Casemiro, Paulinho, Renato Augusto; Willian, Neymar, Gabriel Jesus.
