Arda Turan was the man chosen to come into the action, as Messi was removed in a precautionary measure by the Barca boss.
With Liga action at the weekend away to Sporting and next week's Champions League away to Borussia Monchengladbach, Barcelona will be hoping that their star has not sustained any damage to the muscle and makes a speedy recovery.
To make matters worse, Sergio Busquets was also taken off injured in the physical clash, just minutes before Messi's withdrawal.
