Guardiola in Man Utd dig: 'Bournemouth are the best team we've played'

Pep Guardiola described Bournemouth as the best team Manchester City have played this season a week after facing Jose Mourinho's Manchester United for the first time.

City cruised to a 4-0 victory over Eddie Howe's men at the Etihad Stadium but Guardiola was impressed with the way the Cherries attempted to cause his side problems.

In a thinly veiled dig at City's Manchester rivals, the Catalan went on to accuse the rest of their opponents so far this season of playing long balls.

"Bournemouth were the best team we have played until now - they could create more problems when they had the ball than other teams, who played long balls," Guardiola said.

"They wanted to play and our high pressing in the first half was not perfect.
"We did well and could use a lot of counter-attacks and after that the quality of our play from the strikers and midfielders made the difference."

He added: "I'm not going to accept that it is easy because we worked hard to play this well. Bournemouth are the best team we have played in our five matches, so I am very pleased.

"We will lose games and we will make mistakes, but this is a process."
