The 23-year-old completed a world-record £93.8 million move from Juventus on Tuesday morning to conclude the summer-long transfer saga.
The No.6 shirt has been vacant since Jonny Evans left for West Brom last summer and Pogba becomes the first midfielder to wear the number in the Premier League era. Pogba wore No.10 at Juventus.
Other players to don No.6 include Wes Brown, Rio Ferdinand, Laurent Blanc, Jaap Stam and Gary Pallister, with Pogba given the No.42 shirt during his first spell at Old Trafford.
