Ogenyi Onazi Seals Move To Turkey From Lazio

Super Eagles defensive midfielder, Ogenyi Eddy Onazi, has left Italian club, Lazio, to join Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

The Nigerian international spent five years at Lazio after joining the Rome-based club from My People FC owned by popular preacher T.B Joshua.

The 23-year-old is seen as surplus to requirements at Lazio hence the decision to go elsewhere, and Turkey was the preferred destination despite reported interest from a handful of other teams across Europe.
Italian tabloid, La Repubblica, claims that an agreement over Onazi’s transfer was sorted weeks ago, but the instability and turmoil of recent events in Turkey delayed the deal from going through till today.

The transfer fee for Onazi is understood to be in the region of N1.8 billion (5m Euros)
Onazi took to social media to thank Lazio fans for their support over the years even as he gets set to join other Nigerians like Emmanuel Emenike and Kenneth Omeruo in the Super Lig.

“It all started fives ago. Big thanks to all the great Lazio fans who stood by me when the time was rough and when we all smile,” he wrote.

“God bless you all. I will always be praying for you.”
