Courtois delighted with Chelsea coaching change

Thibaut Courtois has admitted that he is finally happy with the coaching situation at Chelsea, following a difficult 2015-16 campaign.

The Belgium international goalkeeper fell out with Petr Cech's mentor, Christophe Lollichon, who was replaced in the summer by Gianluca Spinelli.

The 24-year-old played his first full match of pre-season in a 3-1 International Champions Cup win against Milan and spoke optimistically after the victory in Minneapolis.

"It is going very well," Courtois said. "There’s a new goalkeeping coach and it works really well. I feel well and I think that you could see that today, when I made some very good saves. So I think he’s done well."

Last term was a troubled one of the shot stopper. He missed several weeks through injury and was sent off twice as his side finished 10th in the league, 31 points behind champions Leicester City. Courtois, however, is confident brighter days are ahead.

John Terry, Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta were familiar faces in Chelsea's back four for the keeper to work with but he praised the performance of the youngster Aina, who has emerged as a potential starter ahead of the new Premier League season.

"He did well. He has speed, he trained with the first team and has good quality," Courtois added. "He needs to adapt a bit to the level but I think he is doing well. He's taken his chance and did well.

"He’ll be one for the future. It will be a hard choice for the manager to chose who will play but it is good to see a young prospect from the academy."

Courtois is thought to still be Antonio Conte's No.1, despite Asmir Begovic making over 20 appearances last season after joining from Stoke City. The Italian is in the market for new players and admitted they could include the Milan's reserve goalkeeper, Diego Lopez, which could spell the end for the Bosnia international at Stamford Bridge.

"He's a great keeper but I don't know where he is going to go. Anything can happen," Conte said.
