Highly-promising Nigeria midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew has signed a four-year contract with Norwegian club Lillestrom. This season, the 20-year-old Matthew featured for Kano Pillars on loan from FC Hearts.
He has previously played for another NPFL side El Kanemi Warriors. He has represented Nigeria at U17 and U20 levels as well as featured at this year’s CHAN in Rwanda, where then Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh picked him as his best player. Matthew can play as a defensive midfielder, playmaker or offensive midfielder.
He has superb technique, great vision, he is a fine passer of the ball and packs a decent shot. Nigeria internationals Nosa Igiebor and Anthony Ujah played for Lillestrom before they moved on to bigger clubs and leagues.
