Federation Cup Recap: Crown FC Upset NPFL Leaders Rangers To Reach Last 8

Crown FC 2-1 Rangers
Nigeria National League side, Crown FC have produced one of the biggest upset in the Federation Cup as they  beat Enugu Rangers 2-1 in their Round of 16 clash at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on Sunday.

Rangers who are hoping for a domestic double as they are at the moment very much in contention for the League shield will now have to direct all their energy to the NPFL if they are to end their over three decades trophy drought.

Crown FC on their part will hope they can continue this amazing run; having also finished champions of the Oyo state Federation Cup for the first time in recent times

Akwa Lose Out To Sunshine Stars On Penalties
Sunshine Stars of Akure are out of this year’s Federation Cup after they were edged out on penalties by defending Champions, Akwa United on Tuesday.

The game in Markurdi was keenly-contested as both teams fired blanks in the regulation period but Akwa United prevailed in the ensuing penalty kicks; winning 8-7.

Akwa United against all odds won the 2015 Federation Cup as they defeated Lobi Stars in the finals in Lagos. The Uyo-based side is hoping to go all the way to defend their title once more but they will first have to conquer their quarter final foes that would emerge.
