Seven-time Nigeria champions Enyimba will need to win their remaining two games to now qualify for the knockout stage of the CAF Champions League after Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa booked their own place Wednesday night.
Sundowns, who came through to the group phase of the competition through the back door after AS Vita from DR Congo were disqualified for using an ineligible player in a previous round, have won Group B after they posted their third straight win.
They have an unassailable nine points after three matches and so the fight for the other semi-final is now between Enyimba and Zamalek and both teams clash in Cairo on August 14.
Zamalek won the reverse fixture 1-0 in Port Harcourt and a draw at home against the Nigeria champions will also guarantee them a place in the last four.
Enyimba will welcome Sundowns to Port Harcourt on August 24, but if they failed to win at Zamalek even a win against the South Africans will not be enough to push them through as the Egyptian giants will go through on a better head-to-head record than the Nigerians.
