AC Milan have officially announced the appointment of coach Vincenzo Montella on a two-year contract.
Montella, who led Sampdoria to a 15th-placed finish in Serie A last season, replaces interim boss Cristian Brocchi at the helm.
A statement on the Serie A club's official website reads:
"Vincenzo Montella is our new coach, he has signed a new contract which begins on July 1.
"It is the belief of the club that the style of play of the new Rossoneri coach with be the base of a fruitful and positive collaboration.
"Heartfelt thanks to Cristiano Brocchi for the enthusiasm, preparation and intensity with which he approached his career as Milan coach with the youth team, the Primavera and the first team."
With Milan on the verge of a Chinese takeover, Montella will be expected to return the Rossoneri to their former glory, with the ailing Italian side having finished Serie A in only 7th place last term following a succession of poor seasons.
