Laurent Blanc confirmed Edinson Cavani was not happy about being taken off during Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-1 win over Troyes in Ligue 1 on Saturday, but understands his frustrations.
However, he warned his players that younger members of his squad will be selected if experienced players step out of line.
Cavani was replaced by Jean-Kevin Augustin with 10 minutes remaining having opened the scoring in the first half.
As he left the pitch, the Uruguayan striker muttered a few words of discontent in his manager’s direction.
"Cavani wasn't very happy - I can confirm that,” Blanc said at his media conference after the game.
“But [players] are never happy [to be taken off] and I can understand that."
"If established players have no motivation, we will play young people. They will be happy to play, but I think the established players that I have are currently serious."
Blanc also asked journalists to stop spreading “false information” about Javier Pastore, who the PSG boss insists is injured.
Amid rumours over the midfielder’s future, there have been conspiracy theories about the reasons he has not been available for selection.
"We must stop saying false information about Pastore - he is really injured,” the 50-year-old said.
“You will speak with him and will see that he is injured. It's been a difficult start to the season for him, but he is injured.
“Stop saying that these are diplomatic injuries - I won’t lie to you, I will not tell you that he is injured if it is not the case."
