Chai, Olivier Giroud has hit back at Thierry Henry, insisting the former Arsenal striker needed to say something controversial as he is too “dull” as a pundit.
Henry launched a scathing attack on the France international after the
Gunners played out a 0-0 draw with Chelsea at the Emirates, claiming
that Giroud does not have the ability to fire the club to the Premier
League title.
"I think Giroud is doing extremely well but can you win the league with him? I wouldn't think so,” he told Sky Sports.
Arsene Wenger subsequently defended his striker, and Giroud has now personally hit back at Henry’s criticisms with a barb at the 37-year-old’s punditry skills.
“I heard he was saying too many dull things. That was a bomb and it had its desired effect,” he told L’Equipe.
Giroud has not scored for Arsenal since the 4-1 victory over Liverpool in April.
