Arsene Wenger says he believes Theo Walcott has a great future and wants the England international to stay at Arsenal.
Walcott
has struggled for starts since completing his recovery from a cruciate
knee ligament injury in January, with Wenger often deploying summer
signing Danny Welbeck ahead of him in wide positions.
Tensions mounted when Walcott took to Twitter in March to contradict his manager's suggestion that talks over a new deal had commenced but Wenger is adamant he wants to keep the winger at the club.
"I
believe he will have a great future and I want him to stay here," he
told reporters ahead of the Gunners' FA Cup semi-final clash with
Reading.
"Walcott is getting better every week and will have a great goalscoring record in the future."
Thegoalmac understands Walcott is one of a number of potential replacements that Liverpool have earmarked for starlet Raheem Sterling, who recently admitted he is flattered to be linked with a move to Arsenal.
