Pep Guardiola insists he was not involved in a row which prompted Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt’s decision to quit Bayern Munich, but refused to elaborate on the medic's surprise exit.
Muller-Wohlfahrt ended almost 40 years of service when he announced
he would be leaving the club, along with his staff, on Thursday night
after claiming they were blamed for the 3-1 defeat to Porto in the
Champions League 24 hours earlier.
Reports in Germany have suggested his resignation came as a result of
an argument with chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. However there have
been rumours of a rift between the medical staff and Guardiola.
The coach sent Thiago Alcantara to Spain to see a specialist instead
of allowing Muller-Wohlfahrt to deal with his injury, but Guardiola
insists he had no influence on the doctor's decision to leave and that
there was no problem between them.
“Nothing happened between us. It was his decision," the Spaniard told
reporters. "I have great respect for him. I can only respect the
decision. That is all.”
