Hmmm, una agree? Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer has advised Schalke against signing Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira as he feels the 27-year-old is not good enough for the club.
Khedira's contract at the Bernabeu expires in the summer and he has
been linked with a free transfer to a number of clubs in recent months,
including Manchester United, Arsenal and Schalke.
The Gelsenkirchen side appear to be sitting in pole position to lure
Khedira back to the Bundesliga, with chairman Clemens Tonnies recently
confirming that they have already held initial talks with the World Cup
winner.
However, Beckenbauer believes Schalke would be wise to reconsider a
potential move for the former Stuttgart man due to his ongoing physical
problems.
"In his current physical shape Khedira would not help any team forward," Beckenbauer told Sky.
"He is missing something in each aspect of the game at the moment.
"His ability to keep on running in midfield was key to his game. He does not add much without that..."
A serious knee injury kept Khedira sidelined for the majority of the
2013-14 campaign and he has struggled to replicate his best form ever
since, starting just three league games this term.
