This is ridiculously unbelievable. An extra-time Thiago Silva header saw Paris Saint-Germain knock Chelsea
out of the Champions League and book their place in the quarter-finals
by virtue of the away goals rule after a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on
Wednesday.
The French champions - reduced to 10 men after Zlatan
Ibrahimovic's controversial first-half sending off - twice came from
behind in the last-16 tie, with their two away goals decisive in the 3-3
aggregate draw.
Gary
Cahill opened the scoring in the 81st minute with a crisp volley, but
David Luiz swiftly equalised to force extra-time, before Silva conceded a
penalty by handling the ball in his own area.
Eden Hazard
coolly converted the spot-kick, but PSG would not be denied and Silva
atoned for his error with a superb headed goal in the 114th minute to
knock the hosts out of the competition.
