Sergio Aguero missed a second-half penalty as Manchester City were
beaten 1-0 by Barcelona in their last-16 second leg tie at Camp Nou on
Wednesday.
The Argentine striker had a chance to spark a
potential comeback – with Ivan Rakitic having given Barca a first-half
lead on the night – but saw his spot-kick saved as the home side ran out
3-1 aggregate winners to progress to the quarter-finals.
Barca
had a number of opportunities to win by a greater margin, with Lionel
Messi particularly impressive, but were repeatedly denied by either the
woodwork or Joe Hart – though the England goalkeeper’s superb
performance was in vain.
