Chris Ramsey has been named as QPR's
head coach until the end of the season, with chairman Tony Fernandes
admitting that he has missed out on his "dream" manager and will defer
the appointment of a permanent boss until the summer.
The
52-year-old Ramsey has been working in a caretaker capacity following
Harry Redknapp's departure, but has been entrusted with the task of
keeping the struggling London outfit in the Premier League - ahead of
hot favourite Tim Sherwood, who Ramsey was assistant to at Spurs.
“In
the wake of Harry Redknapp’s resignation, it was my desire to identify
the right individual for the job and at this time, we believe Chris is
the ideal candidate," Fernandes told the club's official website.
“He
has impressed everyone here in his short time in charge and I firmly
believe he is the right man – working closely with Les [Ferdinand] – to
lead us until the end of the season.
