Messi will retire at Barca, says President Bartomeu

Thegoalmac has learned that Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu is confident Lionel Messi will stay at Barcelona until the end of his career and has reiterated there is no conflict between head coach Luis Enrique and the Argentina international.

Bartomeu has made it clear that a transfer is not an option and that Messi is happy at Barcelona.

"I have contact with Messi and he is happy, with a lot of ambition and desire to win. He told me that he wants to end his career at Barca and his commitment and willingness are at the maximum," Bartomeu told Catalunya Radio.

"There is no debate about his future. He already said that he wanted to stay and he has a contract here.

"He puts in more work than most. There will not be another player like him. Additionally, here he has some great team-mates to [help him] to win.

"I want to end the talk about a conflict between Messi and Luis Enrique here and now because there isn’t one. I will not explain their relationship in the dressing room, I am a discreet person."

Messi, who has a contract with Barca until 2018, has netted 25 goals in as many appearances in all competitions for his club this term.
