For me, in football you never say never, even though Real Madrid assistant coach Paul Clement has rubbished speculation that Gareth Bale is heading for the exit door at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Wales international only joined the Blancos from Tottenham in the summer of 2013, for a world-record fee of €100 million. Sincerely, I won't still bet against him not leaving Madrid in the near future sha, what do you think guys? Continue for what Mr Clement said after the cut.
However,
it has been rumoured that Madrid have become increasingly concerned by
the winger's form and fitness, while there have also been claims that
Bale is unsettled in the Spanish capital.
Clement, though, says that Bale is going nowhere and that the 24-year-old has a key role to play in the coming years.
"I don't know where the speculation has come from," he is quoted as saying by AS.
"I have a really good relationship with Gareth, we talk daily and he
has never told me in any conversation that he is unhappy or that he is
planning to return [to England].
"He has signed a long contract with Madrid [until 2019] and I see him
playing a big part in the future of the club over the next four or five
years.
"There will always be speculation, if not around Bale, then Cristiano
Ronaldo and whether he will return to Manchester or end his career in
Madrid.
"This is the nature of the game at a big club like Madrid."
There has also been talk in the Spanish capital of a move for
Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling but Clement says head coach Carlo
Ancelotti is not pushing for any major signings.
"As far as I know, the club and the coach are happy with the current
squad, which is not huge but has great quality, so there are no plans to
bring in players," he added.
Iker Casillas' status as Madrid's first-choice goalkeeper remains a
top of much debate, with the European champions being repeatedly linked
with Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea, but Clement does not
think their captain needs replacing.
"I do not think Iker is old for a goalkeeper," he stated. "If you look after yourself, you can play until you're 40.
"Iker has been here a long time and is a legend for everything he has achieved with the club and the Spanish national team."
