I now feel like Alan Shearer, says Gareth Bale

Thegoalmac understands that Gareth Bale has compared himself favourably to Premier League legend Alan Shearer due to the increasing amount of headers he is scoring.

The 25-year-old, who set Real Madrid back €100 million last year, scored the penultimate goal in Tuesday's 4-0 thrashing of Cruz Azul in their Club World Cup semi-final.

The goal was the third header in recent games for the Welsh winger - following nodded efforts against Ludogorets and Almeria - and Bale thanked the thousands of fans who showed Madrid their support in Marrakech.

"Starting to feel a bit like Alan Shearer with these headers!" he wrote on Twitter after the win, which set up a Club World Cup final on Saturday against either Auckland City or San Lorenzo.

"Moroccan Madristas were incredible tonight," he added, with the hashtag #21 in reference to their current club-record 21-game winning streak.

Cruz Azul coach Luis Fernando Tena accepted his team were utterly outclassed in the semi-final and says his side with now turn their attention to saving face by winning the Club World Cup's third-place play-off.

"Real Madrid deserved to win; they were clearly superior," he told reporters. "The 4-0 scoreline is a good reflection of what happened out on the pitch.

"We had some good chances to score but unfortunately we couldn't make use of any of them.
"Although we've simply got to acknowledge that Madrid were by far the better team, it was a great experience to play against such a strong side, and we can learn plenty from it.

"Now our full attention will be on the match for third place, a game we want to win no matter what."
The winner of San Lorenzo's semi-final with Auckland City on Wednesday will face Real Madrid, while the loser will match up with Cruz Azul.
