Brazil will beat Argentina, Chile and the rest to win Copa America, says President

Thegoalmac can reveal that CBF President Jose Maria Marin is confident Brazil are well placed to claim the Copa America in Chile next year.

The Selecao were left reeling from a World Cup semi-final defeat to Germany in July but spirits are once again high after new coach Dunga led them to six consecutive Gillette Brasil Global Tour victories – which included wins over Copa opponents Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador.

And Marin, who will step down from his role in the new year and be replaced by current vice president Marco Polo del Nero, is expecting an impressive performance in what will be Brazil's first competitive test since the World Cup.

"Dunga has won all his games so far and we have conceded only one goal," Marin told the official Copa America website.

"These results make us more confident that we can produce a great performance at the Copa América."

He added: "Brazil and Chile have a great relationship. We played as if it was our home, with our supporters, when we won the World Cup there in 1962.

"Chile has big potential in every way and the fans love football there. I am absolutely certain that all of the teams will feel very good in Chile."

Brazil will be looking to secure their ninth title but face stiff competition from a region that has grown stronger since a one-group World Cup qualification process was introduced ahead of the 1998 edition in France.

And Marin is well aware there will be no easy games for the Selecao.

"There are no weak opponents, especially in South American football. Every team is strong and wants to beat us because we are the five-time World Cup winners," he said.

"We have played Colombia many times and they are always close matches. Colombia always respects Brazilian football, and we face all our opponents with the same respect."

Brazil were drawn in Group C alongside Colombia, Peru and Venezuela.
