Thegoalmac can reveal that Sergio Aguero's 10th Premier League of the season proved the difference
as Manchester City sealed a narrow victory over local rivals Manchester
United.
After a quiet start to proceedings, David De Gea denied
the hosts twice in quick succession midway through the first half as he
saved from Jesus Navas and Sergio Aguero.
City gradually grew
into the game, and they were helped by a reckless Chris Smalling
challenge after 38 minutes, with the former Fulham man handed his second
booking for his trip on James Milner.
Manuel Pellegrini's side
grew increasingly dominant with their numerical advantage, and after
Marcos Rojo was stretchered off, Aguero finally broke the deadlock as he
turned in Gael Clichy's left-wing cross.
Navas went close to
doubling the hosts' lead as he hit the post, though the Premier League
champions needed Joe Hart to pull off a fine save from an Angel Di Maria
shot to see the game out.
