I won't hire Mourinho for Barca because of his style, says Laporta

Thegoalmac can reveal that former Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who could stand for re-election in 2016, has denied he has held discussions about recruiting former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.

For me, Mourinho will never coach Barcelona simply because of his teams style of play and controversial personality. And I believe that if Mr Laporta uses hiring Mourinho as his Manifesto incentive, he has already failed before the election started, because Mourinho is the most hated coach in  Catalonia. Laporta, who oversaw the rebuilding of Barcelona through managers such as Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola, told Spanish newspaper L'Esportiu that he did not discuss Mourinho with the agent.

"My style of coaching is with the [Johan] Cruyff philosophy," Laporta said.
"Mourinho is a great professional and I respect him, but I did not mention him with Jorge Mendes, a person with whom I have a good friendship for many years.

"From time to time, we talk about things."
Despite previously working at the Blaugrana, as a former coach of Madrid, Mourinho is hugely unpopular at Camp Nou.

The Portuguese, and current Chelsea boss, endured numerous run ins with Barca during his time at the Bernabeu, including poking the Catalan club's then assistant coach Tito Vilanova in the eye.
